The Tour of Himalayan footbridges

The Himalayan footbridges ( passerelles himalayennes )which overlook the Drac and Ebron gorges above Lake Monteynard offer a unique experience in Europe.


Nestled in a wooded and mineral setting, they offer striking panoramas of the lake and the surrounding peaks.

Practical information to help you fully enjoy this adventure:


Drac Footbridge:

  • Length: 220 meters

  • Width: 1.20 meters

  • Height: 45 to 85 meters depending on the water level

  • Access from Treffort: 7.5 km from the Les Vignes car park, or 9.5 km from the Mira pier

  • Access from Savel: 3 km from the beach car park


Ebron footbridge:


  • Length: 180 meters

  • Width: 1.20 meters

  • Height: 45 to 85 meters depending on the water level

  • Access from Savel: 8 km from the beach car park

  • Access from Treffort: 2.5 km from the Les Vignes car park, or 4.5 km from the La Mira pier


For the tour around the footbridges, here are some recommended itineraries:


  1. Departure from the La Mira pier in Treffort, crossing La Mira, then return stroll from the Mayres-Savel pier (towards the Drac footbridge).


2. Departure from the Savel pier, crossing La Mira, then return trip from the La Mira pier in Treffort (towards the Ebron footbridge).



It is also possible to combine the footbridge hike with a walking cruise or a meal cruise. Be sure to book in advance by calling 04 76 34 14 56.


Further information :


  • This hike is not wheelchair accessible.

  • Difficulty level: blue (easy), suitable for hikers.

  • Estimated duration: approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes.

  • Distance: 12.5 km with an elevation gain of approximately 400 meters.

  • This hike can also be done by mountain bike by experienced riders.


Note that parking for motorhomes, caravans and other fitted vehicles is regulated in the town of Mayres-Savel. Consider the Savel campsite as an alternative.
